(Last Updated On: October 12, 2020)

If you’re new to the neighborhood, it’s understandable that you won’t yet know all the great places that Long Beach has to offer. Luckily, you’ll find many locals and newcomers who are keen to share tips about the best shopping spots, family activities, and cultural delights. Although personally, nothing gets us more excited than recommending the best places to eat in town.

Of course, you’ll find no shortage of great restaurants, cafes, and bistros to hit up for a delicious family lunch or a romantic dinner. But there’s something about starting the day off right with a tasty breakfast in Long Beach that we can’t wait for you to experience too.

Whether you want to know where to get the best French toast or eggs Benedict, or you’re looking for a comprehensive list of Long Beach breakfast restaurants, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading to find out more!

Blackbird Cafe

The Blackbird Cafe is a firm favorite in Long Beach thanks to its generous portions and incredible range of delicious delights.

Highlights include poutine tots, brownie pancakes, and the ‘Cafe Monte Cristo’, which is a sweet and savory combo dish you’re sure to love. The menu also offers seven different breakfast burritos and seven different takes on eggs Benedict. But don’t blame us if you have a hard time deciding what to order!

The Breakfast Bar

Despite its name, The Breakfast Bar Long Beach also does lunch dishes and entrees. That said, it’s the loaded breakfast dishes that make this place extra special when you need of a morning pick-me-up. The aptly-named ‘Hung Over’, with cheesy scrambled eggs, sausages, and fries smothered in gravy is a menu highlight. We’re also big fans of the Breakfast Dip, Frittata Bites, and Lemon Cake Pancake.

MeMaa’s

The family-owned and operated MeMaa’s is still quite new in town. But if the positive reviews are anything to go by, it’s already the spot to head for the best breakfast in Long Beach.

Innovative dishes like their brisket tacos, churro French toast, and chilaquiles are all big draws. And if the sound of those delights isn’t enough to entice you, how about super friendly service, sweet cream coffee, and their emphasis on homemade authentic flavors? Delicious!

Long Beach Cafe

With plentiful portions and impeccable service, this traditional diner is a well-known gem in the Long Beach food scene. It’s also a go-to for many locals of all ages. The extensive menu features popular breakfast choices such as ham and eggs, waffles, and buttermilk pancakes. The cafe also offers a huge range of sandwiches and specialty omelets. If hearty food at a good price is what you’re looking for, this is the place for you!

Schooner or Later

Many newcomers and tourists visit Schooner or Later to admire the stunning harbor views. But right from the first taste, it’s easy to see why many locals consider this eatery as one of the best breakfast places in Long Beach. Some of the breakfast highlights include Belgian waffles with strawberries, ‘The Mess’ breakfast mash, traditional eggs Benedict, and cinnamon roll French toast. Bear in mind that it gets very busy here on weekends though!

The Local Spot Cafe

If pancakes are your breakfast go-to, The Local Spot Cafe is sure to hold a special place in your heart. The chocolate chip pancakes are perfect for an indulgent treat while the granola pancakes are another popular choice. Luckily, the place also does other breakfast options, including waffles and a host of savory dishes. Firm favorites include turkey sausage scramble, huevos rancheros, and the melt-in-your-mouth breakfast quesadillas.

Jongewaard’s Bake n Broil

One look at the breakfast menu at Jongewaard’s Bake n Broil is sure to get you drooling.

As one of the best Long Beach breakfast restaurants, this family-run eatery offers an extensive range of pancakes, egg dishes, and omelets. We’re big fans of the lemon blueberry pancakes in particular, while loyal customers appreciate the generous portions and reasonable prices.

The Coffee Cup Cafe

The amazing coffee scene is one of the many advantages of Long Beach living. And, while you’ll find a host of great coffee shops in the area, you can’t beat a fresh cup of Boyd’s coffee at The Coffee Cup Cafe. You’ll also find that the servers do their best to ensure your cup is never less than half full!

Beyond the coffee top-ups, expect friendly service, delicious homemade food, and a great local atmosphere. Highlights on the menu include the enchilada eggs, chicken chile verde, and the specialty ‘4th Street French toast’. We also have it on good authority that their banana nut pancakes might even be the best in town!

Starling Diner

Although it’s tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, Starling Diner’s unique and creative breakfast offerings are definitely worth making a detour for, especially if you’re looking for the best French toast in town.

As well as regular French toast, Starling Diner offers a variety of filled versions plus limited edition seasonal specials such as pumpkin French toast and Meyer lemon French toast. Other menu favorites include the homemade hash, lemon curd scones, and the chorizo with green chili.
